Some basic assembly information please.

  1. The packaging note shows ‘Please solder relay on top of board’.  Does that mean a)  the relay is on the top of the board and the solder on the bottom of the board (with the relay is sitting on top of components D4, Q2 and R17) or b) the soldering is on top of the board?
  2. Is my understanding of the S Cap connections ( - / + ) correct? See picture attached.
  3. I have a Pi4.  Am I correct that the jumper provided with the Pico is not needed?
  4. Do you have a picture of a Pico fitted on a Pi4 showing the battery base, battery and Super Cap fully assembled?  I can not figure out where the S cap sits with the battery board and 4000mAh battery  fitted.
  5. The manual gives power supply recommendations.  My Pi4 runs on the ‘Official UK Raspberry Pi 4 Power Supply’ (5.1V 3A).  Do I need any additional power supply?

Due to huge global crisis with electronic parts, we are doing the best possible to cover our customers.

However in order to avoid a string delays, sometime we are obligated to make some shortcomings.

Yes, the only available relays that was working with our PCB, was this one. As the polarization was opposite we ware obligated to inform our customers about TOP soldering. We done it in hundreds UPS PIco HV4.0. This is fine, you can easy solder this on top without any problem. Please follow the instructions. Just For Your Info, the current new incoming production is with "normal" relay as we found the proper one.

No picture attached by you, however there is a BIG "-" on the PCB, you should see it, attached mine picture. Please be carefully and NOT solder opposite.

Yes, not needed. It is only needed if you use Raspberry Pi 3 Model B

No, If you use such big battery and SCAP, then need to user cables for SCAP or battery (I suggest for SCAP).

No, It is fine, even better, as far you use 5V USB supply

Please do not hesitate to ask whatever you need again

Hi.  Many thanks for the information.

Just for absolute clarity, is the answer for the relay question for my relay a) or b)?

regards

Hi,

Your Relay on your version MUST be soldered on TOP of PCB (above the parts), as mentioned on your package

Hi,

I am also confused about this.  Can you please clarify what solder on top of PCB means.

I assume from the comments that the component mates on the top of the PCB.  My question is what side of the board do you solder?

I have attached a diagram, please reply with what method (A or B) is correct.  I am close to finishing assembly so a quick reply is appreciated.

@sco024

Due to global problem with parts availability, we found relay that have reversed polarity, so need to be assembled on the TOP of PCB as attached picture.

As the situation with parts availability is very unstable, please always refer to instructions on the package of UPS PIco HV4.0 about assembly.

Thank you and Kind Regards
